SUPERIOR TOFU is Now a Certified HACCP Plant
Superior Tofu Ltd. now has the distinction of being the ONLY certified tofu plant in western Canada.
The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is an internationally recognized program for effectively controlling food quality and safety. Originally developed for NASA to assure that astronauts’ food supplies were safe, this management principal is widely recognized as the ultimate standard in the food manufacturing industry. HACCP systematically identifies and controls food hazards – biological, chemical or physical. Critical control points are established, starting from raw materials, storage, processing, all the way through to distribution. These control points are monitored and recorded to ensure that established limits are met. Whenever there is any deviation in any of the processes, corrective actions are applied to protect the integrity of the food safety system.

SGS is the world’s leading 3rd party standards certification body. Other standards SGS develops and administers include ISO9001:2000, and ISO22000. Globally, over 80,000 certificates in 75 countries have been issued by SGS. They are the most widely accepted and preferred certifying body in food safety management.
“Our desire to make the best tofu motivated us to seek HACCP accreditation. Through this program, we demonstrate our determination to deliver safe, high quality products to our customers. This undertaking required years of preparation and an enormous amount of resources, involving everyone in our company. The successful audit recognized all the hard work that we have done in achieving our goal,” Plant Manager, Percy Chan, noted. “We may not be the biggest tofu manufacturer, but clearly, we are the best in what we do!”
Our Superior Tofu plant is also certified by Canada Organics, BC Organics, USDA Organics, and BC Kosher. We have also been a certified GMP plant since 2006. All of our products are made with Canadian non-GMO soybeans with no preservatives or additives. We supply to both retailers and food services across Western Canada.
