These tofus are extremely dense with a chewy, meat-like texture similar to chicken. They’re denser and firmer than the mainstream classic Organic Extra Firm Tofu. Comes in 4 handy squares.
Soft Pressed Tofu is a softer version of traditional plain pressed tofu. Unlike the other two Pressed Tofu varieties, which come in 4 square blocks, Soft Pressed Tofu comes in 2 rectangular pieces, ideal for slicing into strips.
Savory Pressed Tofu (formerly referred to as “5 Spices” Pressed Tofu) is infused and slow-marinated with special herbs, such as star anise, fennel and nutmeg. It is a flavoured version of plain Pressed Tofu.
Serving Suggestions
Use as a meat replacement, much like Organic Extra Firm Tofu. It can be cubed or thin-sliced in stirfries. Dice in soups or stews. Pressed Tofu can be ground in a food processor or minced and used in place of ground chicken, turkey or pork.
Savory Pressed Tofu can be used anywhere you’d use Pressed Tofu but be aware that its stronger flavour will be more prominent in the dish.
Storage and Handling
Tofu is pasteurized without preservatives. As a perishable product, always refrigerate tofu and handle it as you would meat or dairy products. Good for 3 days after opening. An unopened package is good up to the stamped expiry date, if it hasn’t been subject to temperature abuse.
Wrap unused portions with plastic wrap or transfer to a resealable container. Store in the refrigerator.
